Poem
Isolation’s So Not Fair!
Those who fall out with fellow students and offer physical or verbal abuse in retaliation, could look forward to being supervised by a teacher during lessons and at break times. Housed, as they both were, in a small room with workbooks at the ready, most miscreants complained that isolation was not fair and there was no good reason for their presence in the room. I leave you, dear reader, to be the judge:
What rule did I break,
For goodness sake?
I just touched his arm,
Didn’t mean any harm.
I leaned back on my chair,
Slipped and mussed up his hair
And my fist lashed out to save me.
But what could I have done
To prevent such a run
Of this very bad luck
With which I seem stuck?
Well, yes, a slap, not a punch
Might have lessened the crunch
As my hand shot out to save me.
Well, yes, I could include
A new attitude.
A change in behaviour
Could be my saviour.
I should learn to think,
Not kick up a stink
If I need to reach out to save me.
Well, okay, in case of a fire,
I should show a desire
To assemble politely
With the rest of society,
Rather than rush
My way through the crush,
And so save myself from myself.
