Poem

Civilitas (Dicacitas)

I’d like to teach a worm to turn,
To change its life’s direction.
I’d like to see it squeeze and squirm,
As I perform a skill inspection.

I’d like to teach the worm to turn,
To be truthful in an election.
I’d like to see its policies firm,
And in a positive direction.

I’d like to teach the worm to turn,
To choose from its own selection:
Right, left, centre, and then to learn
Sweet flavours for its own delectation.

I’d like to teach the worm to turn,
But I know when it opens its mouth,
It swallows more dirt on its lonely sojourn,
And it sends all the best compost south.
