Poem
Life’s a Journey
A children’s story? Cognitive therapy? The circle of life? et al. You decide:
The Snowflake’s Story
I met a little angel,
Not sure of where to go.
I told them of my journey
To a place so far below.
“I’ll join you,” said the angel,
“But will I still get home?”
“I’ll gladly take you with me;
We won’t journey alone.”
The angel held my crystal hand,
As through the clouds I spun.
“Hold tight!” I told the angel,
“Our journey has begun.”
“It’s cold,” remarked the angel,
“Will it get warmer soon?”
I promised that our journey
Would end some time round noon.
We landed on a blanket,
So clean, and pure, and white,
And rested on our journey
While darkness filled the night.
“It’s colder,” said the angel.
“It has to be,” I said,
“Cold air performs the miracle
So we can have a bed.”
My crystal arms grew stronger,
I form a crystal star.
“I’m rested,” said the angel,
“This journey – please, how far?”
“Not long,” I said, “There is a space
That’s saved just for us two.
Just let the wind decide our path,
And do just what I do.”
“You will get home, I promise you,
But ’til the morning light,
Fold up your wings around my arms,
And close them really tight.”

The Angel’s Story
These fragile crystals show me how
To get to my journey’s end.
My snowflake guide is melting now,
I fell my wings unbend.
The sun warms up the blanket white,
With steam and vapour trails,
No longer snowflakes of the night,
But floating, silky trails.
“Just follow us,” the silk-trails call,
“Trust us, and have no fear.
The vapour makes sure you won’t fall.
Your journey’s end is near.”
I spread my wings; I’m lifted up,
Until I reach the clouds.
“Let go!” they call, “Or you’ll get stuck
With crystal snowflake crowds.”
“If you stay, you’ll have to come
Back down with them again.
Be strong; have faith; you will get home.
We’re off to make more rain.”
At last, I see a ray of light
That opens up a hole,
“Look up, not down,” I hear a cry,
“And you’ll reach your final goal.”
I send my thanks to clouds and snow,
And fly my way back home.
If I get lost again, I know
I’ll never be alone.
