Poem
Time Line
Written well before I kissed my Little Sister goodbye, this captures something about grief that is universal.
Some lines cut short, s o m e s t r e t c h u n t i l
We all do take the bitter pill.
Whilst we are still inside our time,
Life can be sweetened, like good wine –
Look out for sun amongst the showers.
Ignore the weeds; focus on flowers.
Smell pillows from the washing line
On breezy days when the sun does shine.
When comes the time the line will end,
Think back on childhood and true friends.
Step back from time, observe the view,
The landscapes formed by me, by you.
Each place a moment of our time,
Each colour blended, yours and mine,
No deed, no word, no unkind thought
Can take away the time we bought.
Our get-togethers, shared laughter,
Memories formed, now and hereafter.
Your time is here and we must part,
Will time now heal my broken heart?
